St. John Fishing The waters surrounding St. John USVI offer a variety of exciting fishing options. If you prefer offshore fishing, a number of local charters are available that will take you out to the open waters to fish for mahi-mahi, bonita, wahoo, tuna, kingfish, blue marlin, barracuda as well as sharks. Offshore St. John fishing charters typically can hold from 4-6 fishermen and cost $800+ for a full day of fishing, and a bit less for 1/2 or 3/4 day charters. For those who prefer fishing in shallow waters (either from land or with a guide) - exciting bonefish, tarpon and sharks are all possibilities. Guides in St. John generally charge in the range of $300+ for a half day to $600 for a full day of shallow water fishing. If you'd like to try your luck without a guide, there are several easily accessible areas (including at the Westin), as well as some that require a bit of a hike. Ask a local for details.
